"Good night sweet prince."

What's this for?

This is the shrine for my yumeship/oc x canon, including my self-insert, Venita and Horatio from the play Hamlet! They're also reffered to as Horentia or SerpentQuill if yall wan't an "official" ship name. In this continuation/adaptation/shit that I maladapive daydream to, After... Hamlet happens, Horatio wanders alone lost and in need of connection when he stumbles upon Venita hanging out in the woods. Confused on why she's there, the two talk for a bit and eventually form a bond, Horatio learns to accept his greif over Hamlet, she learns the philosophy of stoicism might not be all its cracked up to be, and the two elope in Spain.

Like most of my works, this story is constantly everchanging, so don't be surprised if you see a few comics/artworks that contradict this extremely vauge outline. ^^ I'm just havin' a bit of silly goofy fun over here!

Why Yumeshipping?

I've never been big into selfshipping in the first place. I did the whole sans fangirl thing as a bit, and when I was bigger into the TMF fandom I had ocs that I shipped with the characters but other than that I've never been huge in the whole selfshipping thing. That WAS until I became more interested in the community and Lo and behold! New hyperfixation on Hamlet. They were both coincidental but GOD did they hit me at the same time like two semitrucks.

Are you sharing or nonsharing?

Idgaf about sharing tbh, so sharing I guess? idk man do what you want.

Can I make fanart of these two?

YES YESYESYES YES A MILLION TIMES YES. If you draw my goofy goobers together I'll love you forever n ever and ever.

Venita

Venita is a young noblewoman from Spain who visits Denmark with her father. While it's unclear what her and her father are doing in Denmark, she makes remarks that it’s mostly for pleasure rather than it being wholly political. Throughout their time together, Venita is rather crass and more headstrong, than all the other women in the play. Mostly because she's *gasp* an EDUCATED WOMAN?????

Venita is also a follower of the philosophy of stoicism, though she is way more strict about it than Horatio. At the beginning, she tells Horatio that everything is relative, including his greif over Hamlet. Though she is quickly humbled and now takes the role of a comfort figure to help guide Horatio through the loss of Hamlet.

Throughout the story, Venita is often portrayed as a serpent with serpent-like imagry surrounding her. Her thin stature is described as "slithering" whenever she moves, her tongue sticks out like one, when she talks. Because of this, she's often been compared to Lucifer luring Adam and Eve in the form of a snake, in this case luring Horatio to fall in love with her.

Weather or not this interpretation is true or not... thats up for you to decide.

Despite all her flaws, by the end she falls head over heels for Horatio, and learns how to both be empathetic while also seeing the world as relative, and soon they develop a similar sort of dynamic where she's overly sarcastic and quippy while Horatio is the one to reel her in.

Horatio

Horatio is from the original play and the man that we mostly follow throughout this whole ordeal. He keeps most of the same qualities from the play, being the voice of reason whenever Ventia oversteps or when she's just... generally being "unlady-like".

However, this Horatio has the added bonus of trauma!! :D He states explicitly to her that he used to be in love with Prince Hamlet, and now that him and most of the Danish court is dead with only him to carry on their legacies, he feels lost and unclear on his philosophy.

Slowly, he learns to open up to her in between using her to vent and simply finding someone that understands his perspective a bit more. Even if she is more... fixated on her worldview. Despite this and his stone cold exterior, he can't help but let down his walls and become more vulnerable around her, which is why he keeps coming back into the woods to visit her.

He eventually falls in love with her and agrees to elope with her when he finally realizes how pivitol she was to his life, and how much she truly impacted his life. And, reconsiling with his love for Hamlet via stones and marble statues that kinda look like the dead prince, he becomes her husband and marries into the Spanish royal court.
